“New Dawn Fades”

“In my lithograph New Dawn Fades, bright colors float through space like particles drifting in the atmosphere, or dust motes illuminated by a beam of light in a dark room. Riding the line between flat and dimensional, some spheres seem to recede, while others come forward as they spill into the frame from an unknown source. I was inspired by the photographic effect bokeh, the aesthetic quality of the blur produced by an out-of-focus image, like car lights and city scenes at night that appear as tangles of overlapping colored circles suspended in darkness.” – Evan Colbert
