“Cuando la luna y el cielo hablan de flores / When the Moon and the Sky Talk About Flowers”

“I paint and draw flowers, not only out of mesmerized wonder for their presence on earth, but also as a rebellion against the labels of “decorative”, “inconsequential” and “superficial” that have been equated historically to the art of women.

The title for Cuando la luna y el cielo hablan de flores / When the Moon and the Sky talk About Flowers, is an invitation to wonder about the desires, views, and preoccupations of others -in this case the moon and the sky in conversation about flowers, that might incite a gesture of curiosity not only towards flowers, but towards the moon and the sky too. In this work I contemplate and celebrate the flower as worthy recipient of the attention from the celestial powers.”
