| Using anonymous historical photographs as the subject matter of her prints, Liu reconstructs the unknown stories of three women: “The Bride,” “The Maiden” and “The Martyr”. She embellishes the surfaces with lovely drawings of insects, butterflies and birds, painterly drips and collaged Chinese paper cut-outs that create a veil of time and meaning over her subjects.
