Tom Burckhardt : "Heiau I": 2001
Reduction linocut w/chine collé, pochoir : 12 x 9" : Ed. 18 : $1500

How to purchase

Tom Burckhardt combines figurative and abstract elements. "My aim is to make the more descriptive and figurative elements feel abstract and to push the abstract elements into the real world of space and gravity". Burckhardt draws from many outside influences- his extensive travels, Mayan ceramics, Asian art and funhouse painting- to construct a visual language that he calls "figstract explosionism". The linoleum reduction block print was printed in an edition of 18, plus proofs, by Master printer Bud Shark during February 2001 at Shark's studio in Holualoa, Hawaii. "Heiau I" was printed on natural Thai Mulberrry paper 9 x 6" mounted on white Rives BFK 12 x 9", with red Moriki chine collé and pochoir.
