: Lives in Point Reyes Station, California
Susan Hall lived and worked for many years in New York City before returning to her childhood home in Point Reyes Station, California. The rich landscape of northern California informs and inspires Hall's enigmatic paintings and prints. She depicts moments suspended in the mysterious light of this place of marshland, wave-broken coast line and tawny, rolling hills. The painterly prints invite the viewer into Hall's beautiful landscape, and into these romantic visions of a disappearing world.
The artist has made prints and monotypes at Shark's since 1981. The latest group of monotypes are richly colored, evocative views of the California coastal landscape, completed in July 2004.
Susan Hall has exhibited her work widely and is represented in the collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art, The San Francisco Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum, The New Museum, New York and others.
