We are celebrating our 40th anniversary this year!

Since 1976, when we began printing as Shark's Lithography Ltd, through the last 40 years of publishing prints as Shark's Ink, we have collaborated with a distinguished group of more than 160 artists from all parts of the United States and several from Europe. We thank the many artists for their collaborations and our supporters and clients for their patronage which has made our 40 years possible.

Artists are invited to collaborate with Shark's because of the unique nature of their work; they have a pursued a strong personal vision on the edges of the mainstream art world.

The prints produced at Shark's Ink form an eclectic body of work using unusual and inventive printmaking techniques. Artists approach the process in many ways. Some arrive at the Shark's studio with maquettes or drawings, others with a suitcase full of reference materials and some with an only an idea. Processes used in the studio have included lithography; monotype- using watercolor, oil pastels and other materials; metal leaf, chine colle, embossing and collage, as well as innumerable innovations for cutting and printing woodblocks and other relief prints; and the engineering and construction of three-dimensional lithographs. Bud Shark has devised unique methods and materials for realizing the challenging projects artists propose.

Our prints are included in numerous private and public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, NY; The Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, CT; The New York Public Library, NY: The Library of Congress, Washington, DC; The Art Institute of Chicago, IL; The Hirshhorn Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC: The Philadelphia Museum of Art, PA and many others.

Bud Shark was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota. He received a BS from University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MA from University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. In 1976, he opened Shark's Lithography Ltd in Boulder, Colorado, and relocated the studio as Shark's Ink. to Lyons, Colorado in 1998.

We use 15th Street Studio for all our framing and highly recommend their services.

Shark's Ink. is a member of the International Fine Print Dealers Association.
